Adoption is one of the main services we offer to our community, and it is a cooperative labor of love with our adopters. We appreciate and applaud people who make the life saving decision to adopt a homeless animal!

Where do our adoptable animals come from?
We work very hard to place animals from our community back into this same community in "forever" homes. Some of our animals are picked up off the streets as strays. After a holding period to allow time for a possible reclaim by their owners, many of these strays are evaluated and immediately become adoption candidates. Some may need to be nursed back to health here or in foster care before becoming candidates for adoption. Some animals are surrended to us from families or individuals who can no longer care for them for a variety of reasons. Current economic challenges have forced some very caring individuals to make heart-wrenching decisions about giving up a beloved pet. Occasionally animals are removed from a home because of unsafe or unhealthy conditions.

Why adopt from us?
There are so many reasons to adopt from the shelter. One of the best is that shelter animals make great pets. Many have already lived with a human family and have the basic training, socialization and cooperative skills they need to become part of your household. And many, but not all, of our animals have the advantage of being mixed-breed animals who use what geneticists call “hybrid vigor” to avoid some of the health issues of purebred animals. Our animals are also quite a bargain since their fees include spaying or neutering, a microchip, worming, vaccinations, and a certificate for a free health exam. Since there are many more animals needing adoption than there are homes, you can make a decision that’s great for you and your family and also helps you become part of the solution to the overpopulation crisis. So, come on over to visit our adoptable animals, and be prepared to fall in love!
